It
has been 25 years since I shared that first dance with my wife
on our wedding day. Our song “If You Were A Rainbow”
was a pick from our favorite LP “Songman” by Cashman
& West.
A basement flood bared the loss of our entire
LP collection. Our beloved wedding song was now part of a soggy
LP sandwich stuck somewhere between Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”
and “Frampton Comes Alive”. I was especially disappointed
when I learned that this hard to find LP was now out-of-print
and never released on CD.
I am an accountant by trade and was telling
this story to a client of mine who’s involved in the sound
industry “Dave Weber”. Dave told me to give him the
old LP and everything would be taken care of by my anniversary.
Well… when I received the CD my first words were “where
did you find it”? When I realized it was my old LP restored
onto CD, I will admit I was nothing short of amazed! The artwork,
sound quality and packaging resembled a factory pressed CD.
On my anniversary day, I went to my wife’s
workplace, put the CD in to her car stereo and cued up our wedding
song so that it would play the moment she started the car. In
an instant, our anniversary was off to a great start!
Thanks Dave and I will see you next tax season!

If
you’re like me, then you always try to find that “perfect”
gift for friends and family around the holidays. However, there
is always that one person that stumps you. This year it was my
boss. I tossed in the towel and finally asked him if there was
anything he would like this year. He chucked and said “sure…
some Allan Sherman CD’s would be nice”. Well…
I knew there was more to the story so I had to ask. He said “I
was in the store the other day and saw Allan Sherman’s Greatest
Hits on CD. I had to laugh because I grew up listening to his
comedy and thought it would fun to hear it again. I bought it,
but was a little disappointed that the selections on the CD were
not the ones I really wanted. I have been looking for all his
other albums on CD, but they’re unfortunately out-of-print”.
Being up for the challenge, I went to work on
the quest. Long story short, I hooked up with Dave at Weber Audio
who was not only quite familiar with Allan Sherman’s work,
but helped me obtain the albums. The albums were transformed into
CDs in a very professional manner. The labels were even personalized
with my boss’s name and year of that they were given as
a gift.
After witnessing his reaction upon opening the
package, I will be the first to say that rare CD transfers make
great gifts. He had a ball listening to them reminiscing on days
gone by. As it turned out, the toughest challenge turned out to
be the most successful gift of them all!

I
was a music major back in my college years of the late 70’s.
I had extensive involvement with our church choir which toured
Europe in 1978. Our performances were unprofessionally recorded
and then duplicated onto cassette tape for keepsake purposes.
Who knew that cassettes only had an expected lifespan of 10 years?
30 years later and old man time has taken his toll on some of
my most cherished and irreplaceable memories.
Besides the aging process, these tapes were
weakly recorded, had inherent noise from the original tape machine,
increased noise from the duplication onto cassette process, fade-outs,
drop-outs and the risk that they may eventually fall victim to
the hunger of my cassette deck. In short, they were a mess!
Weber Audio did a nice job of taking my old
cassettes, substantially cleaning up the audio and transferring
them onto CD. Not only do they sound better than ever, but they
look great too! THANKS!
